The Runaway World Coblentz, Stanton A. Avalon Books 1961 No ISBN Hard Cover Good Minus Condition Poor Ex-library with typical marks, wear to edges; cocked spine; solid reading copy. The dj is faded, heavily worn at edges; good illustrated cover still; price intact. "Orcus was a wandering planet, a runaway world finally captured by the sun, after doing terrible damage to Earth in the Eighth Century of the New Era that followed the great wars. Even before its coming, the human race had been split into two groups--the Ants and the Antelope. The Ants had become specialized in mechanical aptitudes, trying to imitate the machine socially; the Antelope sought balanced development. Finally, the Antelope fled en masse to Orcus, to build their own civilization there; and they would have gladly forgotten the Ants back on Earth--only the Ants would not permit this to happen. Continually, spaceships from Earth, bearing marauders in search of girls and women to kidnap, landed on Orcus; and as time passed, the peaceful Antelope became less ad less able to prevent the raids from succeeding. Several expeditions to Earth had been total failures, but mog of Orcus had a plan. It was a desperate plan, but he was a desperate young man, whose sweetheart had been seized in the last raid. He would go to Earth alone, disguise himself as an Ant, and obtain the information necessary to rescue Lellum and the other women, if he was unable to recapture them himself. Mog landed safely and found that he was accepted as an Ant in the city of Durdunum, where Lellum had been taken; but the only way he could survive long enough to find her was to participate in the mad struggle for prestige that occupied every inhabitant of Earth, whatever their city." Illustrated cover by Ed Emshiller. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilogram. Inventory No: 043253. Hardcover Price:
